Port president/CEO Participates in Top-Level Stakeholder Discussions with T&I Committee Chair
Port Tampa Bay President and CEO Paul Anderson participated with other transportation heavy hitters on September 16, 2014 in the Transportation Salon Stakeholder Dinner, held in Washington, D.C., featuring Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster.
The purpose of the dinner was to bring together bipartisan perspectives to discuss important transportation issues, policies and ways in which U.S. House transportation leaders can move ahead on initiatives including FAA reauthorization, surface transportation authorization and critical maritime issues. Anderson engaged with T&I Chairman Shuster and other top-level transportation officials. Read more…
Port Tampa Bay hosts Florida Transportation Commission for workshop and meeting
Port Tampa Bay was pleased to host this week a two-day meeting and workshop of the Florida Transportation Commission, which provides leadership in meeting the state’s transportation needs through policy guidance on issues of statewide importance and maintains oversight for the Florida Department of Transportation and other related authorities. Bright House Networks Celebrates Small Business Month
Bright House Networks recently announced that it will celebrate Small Business Month this November for small businesses in its Florida service areas. In an effort to bring the local community and small businesses closer together, the company will launch a website dedicated exclusively to small businesses on November 1. This website will offer small businesses the opportunity to showcase their business and promote special offers to local shoppers.
Local small businesses can register for the site now through October 31 by visiting brighthouse.com/smallbizmonth. The first 500 businesses to register for the site will receive a $50 AmEx gift card. Every business that registers will be entered for a chance to win Bright House Networks Business Solutions service for one year (up to $1000/month for 12 months).
Bright House Networks will launch the site to consumers on November 1, encouraging the local community to stay close to home and shop small. Nitro Mobile Solutions Announces Strategic Partnership with Security Compliance Associates
Nitro Mobile Solutions, a leader in mobile applications and mobile banking development, announced Tuesday its strategic partnership with Security Compliance Associates, a leading information security provider for financial institutions. The purpose of this partnership is to deliver mobile solutions that have been assessed and certified for information security compliance. All Children’s Hospital Launches New Fitness and Healthy Living Program at Lakewood High School
As part of Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, All Children’s Hospital is launching a new school-based program that aims to curb childhood obesity by introducing teens to healthier lifestyles and fitness, and tracking these activities through social media and text messages. The “Lakewood Health Squad” provides opportunities for students at Lakewood High School to participate in fitness boot camps, brown bag lunch series where All Children’s Hospital experts will highlight a variety of health topics and other healthy living activities. Highwoods Properties, Inc. today announced that himagine solutions, inc., formerly Kforce Healthcare, Inc., one of the largest coding companies in the U.S., has leased 15,257 square feet at LakePointe One at Tampa Bay Park.

Adult Psychiatrist Joins Rogers’ Staff in Tampa Bay
Phillip J. Seibell, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist, has joined the medical staff at Rogers Behavioral Health–Tampa Bay, which is slated to open late September. Dr. Seibell will provide support and psychiatric services for adults in Tampa’s intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP) that will focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related anxiety disorders. All Children’s Hospital Chief Patient Safety Officer Joins the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Faculty
Brigitta Mueller, M.D., chief patient safety officer and vice president of medical affairs at All Children’s Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has been selected to serve a three-year appointment as a core faculty member of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. Throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Armstrong Institute coordinates safety and quality improvement efforts and also develops and tests solutions in safety and quality improvement that can be shared with and spread throughout the world. Mueller will work with other Johns Hopkins Medicine safety and quality investigators to reduce preventable harm, enhance outcomes for all patients and reduce waste in the health care system. Saint Leo Tampa Education Center Offers Upcoming Symposiums at Channelside Location
Saint Leo University Tampa Education Center will conduct two symposiums – an undergraduate and a graduate session – on consecutive Friday evenings. The discussions include:
- Friday, September 26, 6 to 8 p.m. – Undergraduate symposium with guest lecturer Jose Olmo, behavior specialist, James Irvin Education Center. Dr. Olmo will discuss social work in the 21st century. There will also be a presentation on the new Bachelor of Social Work program to be offered at the Tampa Education Center in fall 2015.
- Friday, October 3, 6 to 8 p.m. – Graduate business symposium featuring guest speaker Jan Sadil, chairman and CEO, Hypotecni Banka, Prague, Czechoslovakia. Sadil will discuss the European economy. The new Master of Accounting program coming to the Tampa Education Center will also be introduced.
Designed for adult learners, the symposiums will provide attendees an opportunity to meet with an enrollment counselor to discuss their specific areas of interest.
