HART and PSTA join forces on a mobile payment App.
On September 5, HART and PSTA began a regional fare collection system that will test a mobile payment App that can be used in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
Flamingo Fares Tampa Bay will allow riders to use many of the transit system’s services without having to carry cash. The goal of the test period is to figure out any adjustments that may need to occur before the full implementation takes place in 2018. Transportation agencies in Hernando, Pasco, Manatee and Sarasota Counties also plan to use the same technology.
Flamingo Fares will run from September 7 through March 4, 2017

Hillsborough County Commissioners vote on a transportation plan
At long last the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners voted Thursday to spend $600 million over the next 10 years on transportation needs throughout the county. The Commissioners voted unanimously for a board policy offered by Commissioner Higginbotham that differed from a plan proposed by Commissioner Murman a couple weeks ago.
The vote on Thursday follows a several year debate on how to fund the ever-growing transportation needs in Hillsborough County. However, the commissioners have noted that this is not the end of the discussion, and the funds will not meet all of the needs in the county.
