Chamber statement regarding vote on the sales tax increase: The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce released the following statement following the failure to place a sales tax increase on the November ballot:

“We are disappointed that the Board of County Commissioners once again failed to place a half-cent sales tax increase on the ballot this fall.  It is unfortunate that the residents of Hillsborough County will not have an opportunity to weigh in on funding transportation improvements.  The Chamber is still committed to working with our elected officials and the community towards funding a transportation system that meets the needs of businesses and families” said Chamber president and CEO Bob Rohrlack.
