BKS-Partners Colleagues Donate Hair to Improve Quality of Life of Those in Need

hairBaldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners (BKS-Partners), an award-winning insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Tampa, continued its commitment to the firm’s motto “The Power of One” last week, when three colleagues donated a total of 36.5 inches of hair to Locks of Love and Pantene Beautiful Lengths.

Colleagues Jacklyn Massrock, Amber Miller and Nerissa Casanova are helping women and children who have lost their hair to cancer treatments or other long-term medical care.

“I first started donating my hair when my daughter was young for two reasons: to honor my mother, family and friends that have survived cancer and to teach my daughter that you can impact someone’s life with one simple gesture,” said Nerissa Casanova.

Giving it all means giving back at BKS-Partners. Each colleague is given 24 hours of paid time off annually to give their time to causes that are meaningful to them. BKS-Partners supports over 40 non-profits, and colleagues invest 2,627 hours annually volunteering.

“The Pantene Beautiful Lengths program partners with the American Cancer Society to provide free, real-hair wigs for women battling cancer. Stories on their site help you understand the trauma of losing your hair—part of your identity—while also facing a life-threatening disease. I want to give someone the gift of hope, comfort and peace of mind. One day when they’re cancer-free, they’ll look back knowing they’ve been supported all along,” said Amber Miller.

Schifino Lee Advertising Wins Two Bronze Telly Awards

Winners of the 35th Annual Telly Awards have been announced and Schifino Lee has been awarded two national Telly Awards. The Bronze Telly’s were presented for local TV commercials produced for Westshore Pizza and Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo’s ZooBoo event. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

The :30 TV commercial produced for regional pizza chain Westshore Pizza was shot locally at locations throughout Tampa Bay. The settings featured in the spot include a beach bonfire on St. Pete Beach, a little league game held at Tampa Bay Little League, a front-porch party at a Bayshore Blvd bungalow and of course pizza imagery shot at Westshore Pizza. This is the second Telly Award that Schifino Lee has received for work completed on Westshore Pizza.

To scare up ticket sales for ZooBoo, the annual Halloween event at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, Schifino Lee created a frightening new TV commercial featuring a Jack the Ripper-type character from ZooBoo’s most recent haunt, London Frightmare. The spot is set in 1800’s London.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.  Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.  The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.  Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor.  Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards.  “Schifino Lee’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
