The Chamber and Leadership Tampa Alumni help MacDonald Training Center

The Chamber and Leadership Tampa Alumni have come together with the MacDonald Training Center (MTC) “to empower people with disabilities to lead the lives they choose.” MacDonald Training Center has served adults with developmental disabilities throughout the Tampa Bay area since 1953. In 2006, MacDonald Training Center expanded its focus by opening a Fine Arts Studio. Currently, over ninety adults create imaginative and beautiful works of art in studios in Plant City and Tampa. Many of the artists sell their works and have developed recognizable, individualistic styles.

Leadership Tampa Alumni hosted an event last year where there was art available for purchase. Almost 40 pieces of art was sold during the 2 hour event. 55% of the proceeds of the art goes directly to the artist with the remaining going back to the center to purchase art supplies. This year, several chamber member organizations Grant Thornton, The Omnia Group, Holland and Knight, Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, along with the Chamber will be selling consigned art pieces displayed in their businesses for the next month.

We have six amazing pieces of art displayed in the Chamber available for sale to anyone. The six pieces range from $60-$195. To learn more about the MacDonald Training Center, visit their website at http://www.macdonaldcenter.org/.
