ACTION ALERT! Oppose amendment to SB 1866

Efforts to reduce local control of the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority resurfaced last evening in Tallahassee.  An amendment was filed by Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto late Wednesday, to Senator Jack Latvala’s Senate Bill 1866, which is being heard in the Senate Transportation Committee at 3:15 PM today.  This amendment, with major changes to current law, was filed less than 24 hours before the committee meeting is scheduled to begin.  The result of the amendment will be to significantly limit local control of expressway authorities, removing their autonomy and moving most of their operations to the Florida Department of Transportation.

Please contact the members of the Senate Transportation Committee before 3:15 p.m. today (2/2/2012)  and ask them to oppose Senator Benacquisto’s amendment, barcode 597172, during the committee meeting this afternoon.  The members of the Senate Transportation Committee are:
